If at first you don’t succeed....

That’s probably what that handsome fella Matthew Morrison keeps telling himself when it comes to his music career.

No, I’m not saying success on that front is not taking for the guy – I’m sure moms people who still watch TV’s Glee are totally into him. But you gotta admit something’s not quite there when you gotta go back to stage classics and standards for your sophomore record (’cause the Morrison originals did not take).

Enter “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” a.k.a. the song that M2 picked as the lead single off his latest record Where It All Began, which dropped last month.

It’s a perfectly and lovely sung interpretation, but it doesn’t tell me anything about Morrison as an artist. Nothing other than he’s a nice vessel that which already has been proven.
