It is finally official: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving The View. Today.
And I never saw her again. (Unlike also-departing Joy Behar – I’ll see her again on som’in’.)
The more conservative – and ridikolous, IMHO – voice of the chatfest is taking her shtick to a place filled with like-minded folk: Fox News. She’ll take over the spot being vacated by something called Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends in September.
“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View,” said Roger Ailes, Fox News’ chairman and CEO, in a statement about the hire. “She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
Yeah, yeah. Here’s to more moments like that infamous Rosie vs. Hasselbeck Fight of 2007, OKRRR.
All kidding aside, I will miss the girl on The View. She really had one, and that helped make the show so interesting: how fiercely she stuck to her guns, ya know. She really embodied the right to have an opinion, to disagree with a majority, and to just believe in what one wants to believe in America in a very public, scrutinized way.
Good for her. And best of luck, too.
