The Couple That Hits Together

That Kristen Bell and that Dax Shepard are just adorable.

When he’s not surprising her with a sloth for her birthday, the guy’s like, writing a movie for him to co-direct and co-star with her.

Now, that’s the sign of true Hollywood love right there.

The Parenthood breakout did just that when he thought up Hit and Run, a caper road comedy that has him playing a former getaway driver (Ryan Gosling, you sure started a trend, dude) who comes out of witness protection to drive his longtime gf (Bell) to L.A. so she can make it to her dream job.

Hilarity and complications arise once his past stars to want to catch up with him, though.

See how it all shakes when Hit and Run arrives in theaters on Aug. 24.

A Savior for Realsies

Well, well, well, Patrick Dempsey – you sure went and showed us, din’tja.

Oh, yeah...the perfectly coiffed Grey’s Anatomy actor wasn’t happy just playing a lifesaver on TV, he recently cashed in his life-imitating-art card and rescued someone in real life.

Without getting a single hair undone, I bet!

All kidding aside, though, Dempsey did, indeed, find out how he could save a life, alright, last week when he pulled a teenager who had flipped his car in the thespian’s front yard in Malibu. The Demps reportedly ran over to the wreck, crowbar in hand, and did his heroic thing, thus raising the bar for any working actor in Hollywood to freakin’ get.

Good goin’, guy. Now, this may be a bit beneath ya, but I have a light bulb that needs changing. Would you mind?

The Sound of Evil

Alright – so Mirror Mirror was a bust, right?

Now, I skipped it, but I saw the reviews – they were pretty wretched...although I understand from my 5-year-old niece that the the movie was just swell.

I just couldn’t do it. And I do share a lot of interests with my niece (I’m chucking my gun-shyness on this one to the economy, OK).

I am, however, very much looking forward to that other Snow White movie, Snow White and Huntsman, mostly because Charlize Theron (who plays the Evil Queen) is making it jiggle these days like all get-out.

And as if I couldn’t be more into the upcoming movie, now comes word that Florence + the Machine are behind Breath of Life,” the first official single off the movies soundtrack.

The song was inspired by the Queen’s darkness and her eternal, yet empty qualities. It totally sounds Florence Welchensian, so that’s good. And likey that – have a listen.

Brooklyn Gal

Rooney Mara will not be waiting for a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo follow-up for you to see her again.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who is currently shooting Steven Soderberghs The Bitter Pill (f.n.a. Side Effects), is attached to star in an adaptation of Brooklyn, the Colm Toibin novel that is being written for the screen by Nick Hornby.

Mara would play a 1950s woman torn between her family in Ireland and the American man she loves. The project is not scheduled to go into production until next spring to ensure the actress will be able to work on it (her fall is already busy with the new Terrence Malick film, if memory serves).

Girl on the Road

Chloƫ Grace Moretz is channeling her inner Reese Witherspoon in Freeway for a new indie that pairs her up with Blake Lively for a world of no good.

Not only is Moretz’s 13-year-old runaway character getting saved by Lively’s grifter character (or is it the other way around?), she’s also getting tangled/teasing a handsome drifter played by My Week with Marilyn’s Eddie Redmayne.

The result is Hick, a 2011 Toronto Film Festival debut that will open in theaters later this year and surely will spark some controversy, for cookie cutter this story definitely aint (as you can see in this red-band trailer).

I like it like that. Can’t wait, girl.

This Is the Worst Idea for a Reunion

So Rihanna is going to be the musical guest when Eli Manning hosts Saturday Night Live a week from tomorrow, right.

Which is fine an dandy – I enjoy RiRi.

But I am not liking what I just heard from someone in the know: Rihanna is considering performing her latest (oh-so-randy) hit Birthday Cake,” which features her ex Chris Brown (ya know...the guy who beat her up), on the show with Chris Brown.

WTF, girl! Do not do that.

Don’t even think to take the stage with that guy’s hologram.

M Wants to Do Men

Madonna has never been known to be one to rest on her laurels (thank goodness!), and she’s approaching her dominion of the fragrance world with as much enthusiasm and energy as she does everything else.

The Queen of Pop just launched Truth or Dare, her first perfume for the ladies, and she’s already planning a follow-up for men.

“I think it would be good to do a men’s fragrance, as well,” M recently told WWD“My daughter thinks so. She wants to wear it. She likes to wear men’s cologne – don’t ask me why.

Madonna went on to say she loves musk and amber and woody kind of scents for men, and that, perhaps, she and her team will develop something that smells like...whiskey?

“I can’t drink it; it’s too strong, but it smells amazing,” she said. “[It should smell like] a really good old whiskey.

I’d so try that. Anything for my Queen.

The Hippest Nympho

The second season of American Horror Story is about to get a shot of indie.

ChloĆ« Sevigny is looking to stay in the realm of cable post-HBO’s Big Love and is in advanced talks to join the cast of the hit FX anthology series. She would play a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac...so you know she’s gonna be all kinds of funsies.

Ryan Murphy & Co. are so into the actress they specifically wrote the part for her and made it extra-juicy – Shelly’s described as one of the mortal enemies of the new character Jessica Lange will be playing.

Ringer Me This, Now That SMG Is Pregnant Again...

Happy news, fans of Sarah Michelle Gellar: Your favorite slayer is expecting her second child with hubby Freddie Prinze Jr.

The couple has a daughter, Charlotte Grace, who will be 3 this September.

Mmm...now, I lapsed on my watching of The CW’s Ringer last month – because I moved, not because I had beef with the show (at all) – so I know that should the show be renewed for a second season (yes, please!), at least one of the twin sisters SMG plays (that is, Bridget) will have to hold plenty of big things in front of her.

Unless the show gets an abbreviated run and is held until midseason.

Right? Or did something happen these past few weeks to Siobhan?

Wait, hold the spoilers. Grr...I better get and catch up.

Fringe Finalizes

Awesome new, fans of multiple universes and complex storytelling of the highest order: Fringe will be back next season.

The cultiest of TV cult hits currently on air has scored a last-season renewal that will ensure the powers that be will be able to wrap up their stories in a satisfying way, which is appreciated by this fan (and, I know, at least a couple of Twitter friends). In the words of executive producer J.J. Abrams, the mythology-heavy show will “resolve in a way that perfectly fits [it].

Yay!

Fringe will be back – in the fall? – with 13 concluding episodes. Here’s to hoping John Noble finally gets recognized for his stellar work on the show now that we know for sure the end is near.

At least in this universe and timeline....

Oh, check out the trailer for Fringe’s fifth and final season. You gotta heart that the powers that be put one out so quickly – that’s for the fans right there, alright.

This Is What Heaven Must Look Like

Are you sitting down? ’Cause you must agree, this photo of Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, and Joe Manganiello has got to be givin ya the vapors.

The three studs were on hand at the grand opening of the IWC – whatever that is – flagship boutique in New York City last night, looking all H-O-T and s---.

Like...right?

Gen. Aladeen: An Origin Story

Wanna know how Gen. Aladeen became Gen. Aladeen?

Well, you don’t have to wait until Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator opens in theaters – the comedy’s opening scene is right here?

Enjoy!

The Dictator will make ’em beginning on May 16.

Frisky Lady

Betty Lady is going to school Jennifer Love Hewitt.

No, Hollywood’s reigning It Lady won’t be playing a madame or anything of the sort when she guests on the first season finale of Hewitt’s new Lifetime show The Client List (at least I don’t think so), but White will share a few words of wisdom with J. Love’s character, who counts the former’s husband as one of her happy customers (she plays a very accommodating masseuse, y’ see).

Hope the Golden Lady gets scrappy.

Oh, look for her ep in June.

Unchained and Unveiled

That awesome dynamo known as Quentin Tarantino is hard at work on Django Unchained, his follow-up to Inglourious Basterds, and here is the proof.

Jamie Foxx plays the title character in the violent, Mississippi-set spaghetti western – a freed Southern slave attempting to recover his wife (Kerry Washington, from TV’s Scandal) from a nasty plantation owner.

Joining him on the road – or more like, the other way around, actually – is a German bounty hunter played by Foxx’s fellow Oscar winner, Christoph Waltz, who needs Django’s help to settle an old score.

Btw, Leonardo DiCaprio also pops in as a deranged plantation owner who makes his toughest slaves fight to the death, gladiator-style, just for the fun of it.

Now, doesn’t this sound like good ol’ family fun? You better think so because the film is set to open this holiday season.

My New Only One

How did I not know that Damien Rice had cut a cover of U2’s One”?

I mean....

Evidently, Rice paid tribute to the Irish band on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of their Achtung Baby album. Go on, have a listen:

What a lovely job, huh.

Bey-eautiful Girl

People has spoken, and the World’s Most Beautiful Woman – this year – is BeyoncĆ©.

I caught the announcement on the Today show this morning, and the People person who was on talking about the magazine’s choice was going on and on about how B is so gorgeous and “off the moment.

Now, I agree – she’s a stunning woman, and very successful and powerful and affable, which only adds to her beauty. But if being off the moment was part of the criteria, shouldn’t Adele have been chosen? It would have been great to see the British sensation be celebrated in this way, and a great message for People to send.

B is by no means a twig, and we certainly don’t see enough black women on the covers of high-profile publications (although we do see BeyoncĆ© plenty), but Adele...now that would have been a different way to go, knowwhatImean?

Anyway, Sofia Vergara also made the coveted list, as did my crush de la saison, Charlize Theron. Ditto Paula Patton and Kate Middleton. I presume some men made the list, but magazine only has the women featured on its site as of my first perusal (I fully expect to see Michael Fassbender up in there, btw).

The Awesome Aussie Likes His Shorts

Hugh Jackman has conquered the big screen, Broadway, the world. He has hosted the Tonys and the Oscars. And now, he’s going to draw attention to some shorts.

Short films, that is.

Oh yes, he will: The Awesome Aussie is going to play host with the most once again when he lends his considerably charming star power to Tropfest New York, the 20th anniversary of the worlds largest short-film festival.

“Im proud to be part of the festival as it expands its reach to the U.S. and brings its competition to New York,” Jackman said. “New York is a perfect host for a festival that empowers creative minds to try their hand at filmmaking.

The actor’s fee event is set for June 23 in Manhattan’s Bryant Park. Finalists will be screened and judged and a winner will be announced, capping a three-day celebration of film.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Road trip! Especially because Jackman also will be showing a short – he appears as a version of himself in a 7-minute short titled Uncle Jonny.

Harry’s Return

Prince Harry’s coming (back) to America.

Oooh, yeah, bitches and boys and who like boys – the supa-hot prince will be in Washington, D.C., on May 7, to accept the Atlantic Council’s 2012 Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Leadership.

And then, perhaps, Hottie Harry, you can come down to Miami? I would love to honor you for all the work you do for my imagination.

Officially Liz

OMG, our and her patience has paid off because it’s finally happening: Lindsay Lohan is getting ready to work again.

L2 will reclaim her role as an actual actress now she’s officially set to star as the late, great Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime’s Liz & Dick, a chronicle of one of Hollywoods greatest love affairs penned by Christopher Monger, the same talent who wrote HBOs Temple Grandin.

The movie is scheduled to begin production in June. Fingers crossed Lohan can stay out of trouble until and beyond that point.

Speaking of, said Linds of scoring the part, “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.

Hope La Lohan can make us proud and show us she’s worthy of my calling her that.

Avon Gets Its Man

No Hugh Jackman? No problem.

Mark Wahlberg – who is so having a moment right now – is in talks to replace the Awesome Aussie as the lead in Avon Man, a comedy about a man who turns to selling the famous products door to door after he loses his job at a car dealership.

Jackman, who had to step away from the project due to a conflict with his shooting schedule (he will finally begin work on The Wolverine this summer), will remain on board as a producer.

I still think they ought to shoot this in Miami. I will be glad to open my door for Wahlberg.
