A New Take on Romeo and Juliet

Orlando Bloom is headed to Broadway, and he’ll be doing Shakespeare for his grand debut over there.

The erstwhile Legolas from the Lord of the Rings movies is teaming up with Tony nominee Condola Rashad to star in a revival of Romeo and Juliet (the first to hit the Great White Way in more than 35 years, btw).

This particular staging reportedly will use the classical text, but the action will take place in a contemporary setting. And it obviously will have a racial undertone.

Romeo and Juliet will begin previews on Aug. 24 for a Sept. 19 opening.
