The new Q – who also appeared in Cloud Atlas last year and was one of the stars of the 2011 BBC series The Hour – revealed over the weekend that he married his partner, Aussie composer Mark Bradshaw, in Sydney 12 months ago, thus confirming that, yes, he is gay.
Whishaw had previously stated that he preferred keeping “a level of anonymity” when it came to his life – so it is not like he was in his closet trying to fool anyone.
“As an actor, your job is to persuade people that you’re someone else,” he has been known to have said.
