Mark Wahlberg has signed on to star in a remake of the award-winning Icelandic thriller Reykjavik-Rotterdam, which, btw, is Iceland’s foreign language submission for next year’s Oscars.
Reykjavik-Rotterdam tells the story of a freight ship worker who is fired for smuggling alcohol and becomes a security guard, only to be roped back into one last criminal scheme by his best friend.
Ever the Renaissance man, Wahlberg also will produce the movie.
Up next, the actor will be seen in December’s The Lovely Bones.
