Like, the new Bruno Mars?
I remember just about everyone saying his name at the Grammys this year, and now I’m like, listening to this new Mariah Carey single, “#Beautiful,” which the folks at Entertainment Weekly have (rightfully) declared “the best Carey single in years.”
Which is funny because seems to me that Miguel does all the heavy lifting. It very much sounds like it’s his song and it’s featuring her.
Either case, and given how poorly she’s performed as a judge on TV’s American Idol this season, the single is already fueling talk of a world tour. To which I say: Simma down, people. Yes, singles build houses – they make careers, but do they sell arena tours worldwide?
Can we just wait until a second single drops to send Carey out on the road?
I’ll give ya this: “#Beautiful” is a, well...beautiful, sparkly-Louboutin-heeled step in the right direction. Let’s see what else she’s got, yes?
