Girl of Summer

Scarlett Johansson is made of patient stock.

For years now, the talented and beautiful star has been wanting to make her feature-film directorial debut with an adaptation of Truman Capote’s Summer Crossing, the 1945-set coming-of-age story of a debutante who defies expectations by heading to New York, where she falls for a Jewish valet parking attendant in the middle of a heat wave.

The project was first announced about two years ago, but it seems Johansson has had it in her mind – and her heart – for a lot longer than that.

“Being able to [finally] bring this story to the screen as my full length directorial debut is a life dream and deep privilege,” the Tony-winning artist a.k.a. Marvel’s Black Widow has said of her plans, which are now moving full steam ahead.

Well, go for it and go for it good, girl.

And call Arianne Phillips for the costumes. You saw what she did with Madonnas W.E., right?
