The Nymphos Are Coming

Controversial director Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac is coming.

Behold the first peak at von Trier’s follow-up to Melancholia. It’s a cheeky, star-studded tableau featuring his cast in many a controversial pose.

There’s an imposing Uma Thurman, and overpowered Shia LaBeouf, a voyeuristic Jamie Bell....

Charlotte Gainsbourg plays this titular role, a woman telling her engrossing story, from birth to her first sexual encounter to everything afterward. With the actors in the film performing to the best of their abilities...and performing real sexual acts.

Edgy.

Update: Sounds like von Trier’s troupe of actors will not be performing actual sex acts on film, after all.

Instead, the director shot other people – body doubles, that is – doing the nasty, and he’s hard at work (tee hee) superimposing the pedestrians’ unmentionables onto his A-Listers bodies in post-productiog so the film can be ready for a Christmastime release in his native Denmark.

That’s why Nymphomaniac is not premiering at the Cannes Film Festival.
