Ready for a Help-ing

Viola Davis, one of my faves, is in talks to star in The Help.

The Oscar-nominated actress (Doubt) would play Aibileen, the weary and tough Mississippi maid at the heart of Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling novel.

Starring in the adaptation of the story about the long-ignored community of African-American maids in pre-Civil Rights era Jackson, Miss., and the young white writer who pushes them to tell their story, would be Davis’ highest profile role yet (she will next be seen in Eat Pray Love, though).

Emma Stone is also in talks to play earnest local journalist Miss “Skeeter.”
