Demolition Man

I think Jake Gyllenhaal’s going through a moody period.

His 2013 title Prisoners was bleak stuff. And it’s not like his Enemy this past spring was not a walk in the park. Plus, there was that whole injured-on-set situation while shooting October’s intense-sounding Nightcrawler last year.

And now Jakey-bear’s spoilin’ for some Demolition time.

Which means that he’s only looking to star in this new Black List film from writer Bryan Sipe that Dallas Buyers Club’s Jean-Marc Vallée is going to direct. It’s the story of an investment banker trying to understand and get over his emotional disconnection to his life following the tragic death of his wife (only to be saved by a woman he meets by chance).

Looks like someone’s (smartly) working quite hard on mid-range-y movies that could also serve as awards bait....
