First Nephew

Regardless of where you land on Hillary Clinton probably becoming the next president of the United States – yeah, I’m so with her! – you must admit that life would be a heckuva lot more fun with a little more Clinton in the zeitgeist.

A little more Tyler Clinton, that is.

The 18-year-old model is the son of Bill Clinton’s half-brother, Rodger Clinton Jr., a reported recent grad from Loyola Marymount University, and someone both parties can agree we should be seeing more of, no?

I mean, c’mon – he pretty!

Ah...to be 18 and fat free again.

Hot Dr./Mr.

Captain America is possibly going crazy.

Chris Evans is considering taking the title role of Jekyll, yet another piece of a proposed Monster Mash coming to theaters near us for years to come. The Ellen DeGeneres-co-produced project would be based on the 2007 BBC One series, which itself was based on the material you know and, maybe, love.

Oh wait. Evans’ take on the thrilling story of alter egos will have nothing to do with the Monster Mash that’s in the works. Russell Crowe is still very much attached to that situation.

In fact, the Oscar-winning Gladiator is set to appear as Dr. Jekyll (or Mr. Hyde) in the new Mummy movie starring Tom Cruise and Star Trek Beyond’s Sofia Boutella that’s due out next summer.

Out of Control

They sure pulled this one together fast.

Office Christmas Party, an edgy comedy announced and cast and sent into production this past winter for a release at Christmastime this year, is absolutely gonna meet its deadline.

How do I know? Well, we have a trailer now.

Starring Deadpool’s T.J. Miller, Ghostbusters Kate McKinnon (in full cat-lady mode, from the looks of it), and X-Men: Apocalypse’s Olivia Munn, the project also features Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, and Emmy nominee Courtney B. Vance (FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), and chronicles the human-resources nightmare holiday party a group of employees led by Miller throw after his shark of a CEO (L’Aniston) announces the branch of the company they all work for will be closing in the new year.

You can only imagine the shenanigans.

Hope they don’t put a red-band trailer out for this one. Keep a little bit o’ the mystery, knowwhatImean.

Office Christmas Party will be out on Dec. 9.

Lucille Takes Center Stage

So, yeah, the upcoming seventh Neganrrific season of AMCs The Walking Dead is gonna be hella intense right out the gate.

I mean, check out the first preview for the show’s new batch episodes, which are set to premiere on Oct. 23:

Clever how the powers that be were, ahem, kind enough to give us so much to gasp over, yet smartly kept us in the dark as to who is gonna meet the business end of Lucille, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s characters barbwire-covered baseball bat.

It’s not quite a Who Shot J.R.? moment, but it’s a heckuva stressful question to consider when you get to thinkin’ about it.

Lucille. It’s all gonna be about Lucille until October.

The Blair Witch Is Back

Time to revisit 1999s The Blair Witch Project, kids.

No, they didn’t finally make that mandatory viewing. It’s just that, if you followed the news outta Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, then you know that the end-of-last-century indie sleeper hit is getting a sequel at last.

The powers that be faked out Con peeps by introducing a screening of a project titled The Woods, only to have it revealed to be a follow-up to the first and second Blair Witch movies (wait – there were two?).

So get ready for Blair Witch by watching its trailer, and mark Sept. 16 in your calendar, if you’re ever oh-so-inclined.

Oprah Wrinkled

Perhaps, she wanted to act all along?

Life post-her own talk show is looking positively radiant with marquee lights for Oprah Winfrey, who has signed on to star in Ava DuVernays adaptation of the 1963 Madeleine L’Engle fantasy classic, A Wrinkle in Time, the story of a young girl whose father, a government scientist, goes missing after working on a mysterious object – a tesseract – that turns out to have the power to transport people into a fifth dimension in which all these unknown planets orbit.

The Big O will be feature in the project as Mrs. Which.

A Wrinkle in Time marks yet another occasion for DuVernay and Oprah to collaborate. The duo previously worked together on Selma, and – look at that – is soon to premiere Queen Sugar on OWN.

I Got You, Shannen!

Shannen Doherty has shaved her head in preparation for her breast-cancer treatment, and she chronicled the move on her Instagram.

It’s a brave, bold move that surely is meant to bring us along for the journey in order to bring strength from our collective well wishes.

And all I have to say is I got you, girl!

Doherty confirmed she’s in the fight of her life almost a year ago.

Good Dunkirk Boy

Harry Styles is definitely earning his SAG card.

Check out this papped look at the erstwhile (?) boy bander on the set of Christopher Nolans next film, the summer 2017 title Dunkirk, a telling of the World War II evacuation of Dunkirk that will star Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy (Netflix’s Peaky Blinders), and Academy Award winner Mark Rylance (who is currently in theaters – ish – with The BFG), among others.

Looks like bf is taking his new craft most seriously, huh.

What Is Going on Now, Linds?

It was bound to happen. Lindsay Lohans in some drama again.

I know, right?

The actress expat reportedly had police at her London flat over the weekend, to handle a nasty-sounding altercation between her and her fiancĂ© Egor Tarabasov (click here for some video – because, of course, there is video). Evidently, La Lohan alleged on social media or whatever, that Tarabasov had “strangled” her early Saturday morning. Except when police got to the apartment, neither one of them was there.

Authorities did manage to track down L2 and Tarabasov and ensure both were safe.

No word on whether either was, y’ know, sound.

Something tells me this ones gonna have legs.

Photo: ETOnline.com.

Update: And, obviously, Linds asked that her privacy be respected hours after this bit of news broke.

Which is rich, since so many details have been aired like dirty laundry on her own social media channels.

The Cast That Sequels Together...

That Trainspotting sequel we’ve been talking about for years now?

Totally happening.

So get ready for T2: Trainspotting, kids – and also prepare yourself to be amazed everyone survived the heroin of the ’90s.

Ewen Bremmer, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller (TV’s Elementary), and Robert Carlyle (TV’s Once Upon a Time) all have reunited with director Danny Boyle (pictured here with McGregor and Miller) to follow up on the lives of the characters they originated back in 1996.

And, obviously, you’re invited to check in on ’em, too, when the new movie comes out next February.

The ’90s are officially super-back!

Busy Benedict

Somebody had a busy Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016, and that somebody was Benedict Cumberbatch.

The soon-to-enter-the-Marvelverse actor – together with co-stars including Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rachel McAdams – presented a much-anticipated second trailer for his upcoming Doctor Strange and he also plugged the fourth season of Sherlock, the cult BBC import on which he stars with Martin Freeman.

What...a busy bee.

Doctor Strange will arrive in theaters on Nov. 4, while Sherlock – back from its timeline touring – is scheduled to premiere stateside at a date TBA (more than likely early next year).

Going Nut

Of course she is.

American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copelands going to be part of Disney’s upcoming live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which Lasse Hallström is directing, I should guess, for a release late next year.

Copeland will take on the role of the lead ballerina who dances the only dance sequence in the entire production.

You know she gon’ bring it.

Are Vampires Over?

Time to say farewell to Mystic Falls.

It was announced at Comic-Con yesterday, that The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, headlined by Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, will end after its upcoming eighth season. The news was confirmed after, earlier this year, stars Somerhalder and Kat Graham had all but confirmed as much, only to backpedal the news, in his case.

The announcement came after the show’s first full season sans OG star Nina Dobrev, whose absence was deeply during the seventh year of the show. Like, I actually stopped watching sometime before the halfway point, for realsies.

Kevin Williamson, the multi-hyphenate who masterminded the show with showrunner Julie Plec, will return as a writer for Season 8, which will consist of 16 episodes instead of the traditional 22. The final season of The Vampire Diaries is set to premiere on Oct. 21.

No word on whether Elena, the ingenue-turned-vampire character that Dobrev played, will wake up from her spell, for it undoubtedly would mean that Bonnie, the witch portrayed by Graham would have to die. (Good thing I do still remember my Vampire Diaries lore, huh.)

Do Not Poke the Ape

Got more news from this year’s Comic-Con?

My, yes – yes, I do.

The mystery shrouding Tom Hiddleston-led Kong: Skull Island was finally unlocked a little, when the powers that be debuted a trailer for the John Vogt-Roberts-helmed production – which also features Oscar winner Brie Larson, 10 Cloverfield Lane’s John Goodman, Toby Kebbell, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others –  at the convention yesterday.

Set in a pre-tech-is-everywhere era, the 1970s, the blockbuster will zero in on a group of explorers arriving on the hard-to-reach island that King Kong calls home, only to discover – at least at first – that a veritable cornucopia of crazy creatures both fascinating and dangerous lurks within.

This according to the Hiddle-hunk himself, so you make sure to get as excited as you can for Taylor Swift’s bf du jour, alright?

I know I is.

Kong: Skull Island was meant to open this November, but it is now set for next March, and it. Looks. Incredible with its shades of like, Nam (not being glib, for you know what I mean!) and fresh take on the material....

That it is supposed to be part of this in-the-works cross-movies Monster Mash that also will include the likes of Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp, well.... Color me intrigued.

There Will Be Justice

Know what else got previewed at Comic-Con this year...today?

Justice League.

Director Zack Snyder teased this past spring that the Super Friends were going to come together, in the disappointing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so, obviously, he took to the Con to tease their assemblage even further, with some sizzle footage that – Spoiler Alert! – doesn’t foreshadow the return of a certain Man of Steel at all.

What folks at the convention did get to see was more of Ezra Miller, who, as we know, will be playing The Flash, as well as lead justice champions Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot). They also got extended first looks at Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, and....

Oh, heck.

Thank you, Internet – let’s all get to watch it together, OKRRR. Check it:

Justice League is due out in November 2017 (with Henry Cavill somehow back as Superman).

Wonder Is Coming

She stole Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from right under Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill with well-deserved impunity, and, now, Gal Gadot is poised to own the summer that will be in 2017.

The first trailer for the eagerly anticipated, decades-in-the-making first Wonder Woman blockbuster – a production directed by Monsters Patty Jenkins – debuted earlier today at Comic-Con, and, from the looks of it, it is gonna be a story told from a lense as old as time. At least at first.

Girl meets boy – in this case, a man named Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine.

And then girl turns out to be a wondrous demigoddess raised by fierce women warriors on a remote land no one seems to have encountered before.

All kinds of badassery ensue when she leaves her home to venture on that of men as Diane Prince, and, given that the story will be set in the thick of World War I, this one is majorly vibing as the Captain America: The First Avenger piece of the DC Comicsverse puzzle.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to take theaters next June 2. See you then!

Shine Bright Like Marion Crane

A&E’s Bates Motel is going out in style during its upcoming fifth and final season.

That’s because Rihanna is going to guest on the show, and girlfriend’s not playing just any role – she’s playing the role.

You read that right. Word from Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016 is Princess RiRi is gonna work, work, work, work, work, work dem pipes as Marion Crane on the prequel-to-Psycho show. You know it: Rihanna is taking on the famed and doomed Janet Leigh character.

What...a scream.

Go, Go, New Yellow Power Ranger!

Keep it going, Becky G – good for you, girl!

A veritable multi-hyphenate at age 19, Ms. G is about to break big, with next spring’s Power Rangers, co-starring Elizabeth Banks, in which she plays the new Yellow Ranger, Trini.

Yes she is.

The newcomer-filled Power Rangers is scheduled to be released next March 24.

Kyra the Director

Emmy and Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick – who is in this fall’s buzzy The Edge of Seventeen, playing Hailee Steinfelds mom – is gonna call the shots now.

It was announced this week that the actress is all set to pop her cherry as a director, with Story of a Girl, a made-for-Lifetime adaptation of the eponymous 2008 novel by Sara Zarr that she is also producing.

And guess who’s co-starring in the project?

Her husband, Kevin Bacon.

Keepin’ it tight and in the family, huh.

Story of a Girl will tell the, ahem, coming-of-age story of a 13-year-old girl who must confront all kinds of unpleasantness after a sex tape she makes with her older brother’s BFF goes viral. Because kids.

The drama and the slut-shaming and the strain the incident creates at home get so bad, gf still has to deal with all of it three years later.

Betcha something gives.

Divas Time Is Nigh Again

VH-1 is...remember VH-1?

Good. You better because VH-1 is bringing back its Divas show this holiday season! This after taking a break that has lasted four friggin’ years.

No word on who will be tapped for the show, but the show will premiere on Dec. 5 from the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.

I...am dreaming...of a Mariah Carey-Ariana Grande showdown right now.

Cracking the Bell Jar

Break a leg, Kiki!

Kirsten Dunst, who is having a renaissance all her own these days thanks to her Emmy-nominated turn on FX’s Fargo and the big screen’s Midnight Special, is adding feature-film director to her rĂ©sumĂ©.

The actress is set to tackle an adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar for her first foray behind the camera. American Pastoral’s Dakota Fanning will star as Esther Greenwood in the project, which Dunst co-wrote for the screen with new-to-the-scene Nellie Kim.

For those of us shamefully unfamiliar with the 1950s-set 1963 novel, Esther is a young woman who goes on an internship at a New York City magazine and then, upon returning home to Boston, suffers a mental breakdown.

Sounds like meaty material for a seasoned talent to take on at this stage in her long career.

Daddy’s Back!

Guess the U.S.S. Enterprise’s doing the time warp. Or something.

Fresh off a beyond-serviceable turn in the all-female Ghostbusters, Chris Hemsworth has been confirmed as part of the follow-up to this weekend’s Star Trek Beyond, a fourthquel yet to be named and yet to land a director.

The sexy Aussie will reprise his small, yet pivotal role from the 2009 reboot to reappear as George Kirk, the father Chris Pine’s Capt. Kirk never knew.

What interesting non-Marvelous turns Hemsworth’s career is taking as of late, no?

The Immortality Investigator

It is O time for Rose Byrne.

The Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising star has signed on to share the screen with Oprah on HBO’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

The gorgeaussie will portray Rebecca Skloot, the journalist who wrote the book upon which the Alan Ball co-executive produced project is based, a tome that chronicled the real-life story of the African-American woman whose cells were key to going ahead and creating the first immortal human cell line (the unauthorized harvesting of her cancerous cells in 1951 led to many a medical breakthrough and save).

The Big O will play Deborah Lacks, Henrietta’s charismatic, yet complicated daughter, btw.

I betcha Byrne – who earned Emmy and Golden Globes nominations for her work on FX’s Damages – knocks this one outta the park, too.

Knight Caught

Welcome back to Shondaland, T.R. Knight!

The Emmy-nominated erstwhile star of TV’s Grey’s Anatomy has landed a part on the upcoming second season of Shonda Rhimes most recent TV baby, The Catch, which stars Mireille Enos and Peter Krause as lovers on opposite ends of the law.

The details of the nature of Knight’s character are being kept under wraps for now – but you know they gotta be writing him something really juicy for him to go back to work with that team after what happened the last time.
