Love Will Keep Them Together

Superheroes and anarchists and...tender gay lovers?

Must be summer at the movies.

And I likey.

Coming up in August is one of the year’s most anticipated indies, Ira Sachs’ Love Is Strange, the story of Ben and George (John Lithgow and Alfred Molina), a longtime couple of New York City men who finally get to get married in the early twilight of their lives, only to be forced to separate after one of them (Molina’s George) is fired from his teaching-choir-at-a-co-ed-Catholic-school post (the archdiocese found out...that he got hitched).

To make the situation even more dire, the couple doesn’t have any real savings. They only have each other to rely on, as well as a tight-knit circle of friends and family (which includes Cheyenne Jackson and Marisa Tomei) that steps up to put them up, alas, separately, until they can get it back together.

It is quite a test, but from looking at the trailer, something tells me these two are gonna be A-OK.

Love Is Strange is due out on Aug. 22. Make sure you catch it!
