Marion Cotillard is hoping to help film the definitive Diary of a Chambermaid.
The French beauté is circling a new adaptation of the Octave Mirbeau classic book, which previously was taken on by Jean Renoir in 1946 and Luis Buñuel in 1964.
Cotillard would play young and ambitious Celestine, a turn-of-the-20th century maid who gives audiences a peek at the upstairs/downstairs travails of the French upper class.
Production is set to commence next March, and the part is described as made for awards consideration, so you can expect the Oscar winner to make the rounds leading up to the 2015 Oscar race. With this or with Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne’s (The Kid with a Bike) Deux Jours, Une Nuit.
You can aller à la banque with this, yo.
