A New Host for Tonight

It was sort of announced this week that NBC is planning on freshen The Tonight Show with a new host soon.

Again.

Somewhere in Hollywood, Conan O’Brien is shivering for Jimmy Fallon, the man the Peacock is said to be eyeing for the job after it phases out Jay Leno by the fall of 2014.

Should Fallon say yes – and, let’s face it, he probably will (it’s the dream of any late-night host) – The Tonight Show would return to New York for the first time since it left the Big Apple after Johnny Carson packed up its bags and moved it to Burbank, Calif., in the 1970s.

Nothing is official yet, but Leno already has gotten passive-aggresive about the whole thing, and industry people are already seeing a booking war brewing.

Do stay tuned. This is gonna get good.

Update: And off the rumors go!

Seth Meyers’ name already has come up as the leading option for a replacement for Jimmy Fallon.
