Couple in Confict

Leave it to Terrence Malick to tell the story of a beautiful-looking couple in conflict in the most breathtaking of ways.

In essence, that’s the gist of his upcoming To the Wonder.

Ben Affleck and Olga Kurylenko (Starz’s Magic City) play a couple that encounters trouble when they come across an old childhood friend (Rachel McAdams) and a priest who is questioning his faith (Javier Bardem), respectively, during a trip to Oklahoma.

Gorgeous imagery and sparse dialogue ensue.

To a fault. The film was not greeted all that warmly as it made its way through the festival circuit last fall. Like, people laughed at it in Venice, if memory serves.

But Malick will be Malick, and he will have his fans, so you can look to have a mixed reaction when To the Wonder arrives in theaters next month.
