The comedian is still angry and “thinks about” those who were shot killed or hurt during a late-July screening of her film, Trainwreck, in Lafayette, La., which is why, as pledged, she is doing something about it.
Today Schumer joined her senator-cousin, New York Democrat Chuck Schumer, as he announced a tree-part legislative gun control plan that will push for greater background checks on people purchasing firearms, even though, as he noted, “we are up against a very powerful lobby.”
Meaning the NRA.
Alas, “Preventing dangerous people from getting guns is very possible,” she said. “These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence, but I promise you they will not be my last.”
Fingers crossed, the Schumers can make a difference.
