Just a Modern Chick Who Does What She Wants

A Judd Apatow woman is not known for being the most tri-dimensional creature on the planet – just ask Katherine Heigl.

So color me hopeful after seeing a little bit of size 6-and-loving-it Amy Schumer’s take on the matter.

See, the comedian is playing the heroine of Apatow’s latest, the upcoming Trainwreck, which she also wrote, OKRRR.

Yay.

Schumer plays a grown woman with a good job living in the big city...and with a penchant for drinking and one-night stands. She is seems to be the male equivalent of the countless proto-Apatow characters that have come before her: hardcore about her habits, non-committal, and emotionally stunted (the red-band trailer for the film even starts with a paternal primer as to why Amy – also Schumer’s character’s name – is the way she is).

I guess we’ll just have to wait until Trainwreck – which also features Bill Hader, SNL’s Vanessa Bayer, Brie Larson, John Cena, and Tilda Swinton as Amys editor-boss at a mens magazine – comes out on July 17 to see if Amy’s really any sort of a breakthrough.
