By the Sea, and by animation.
Angelina Jolie is executive producing an animated film titled The Breadwinner, which will be adapted from the Deborah Ellis young-adult novel, and center on Parvana, an Afghan girl who disguises herself as a boy in order to become her family’s breadwinner after her father is unfairly imprisoned.
The project, of course, is near and dear to La Jolie’s heart and mission on Earth.
“Millions of young girls like Parvana are growing up today under oppression and or conflict and helping their families to survive in those conditions,” the filmmaker said in announcing The Breadwinner. “This story is a reminder of the immense value of their contribution [and a showcase of] the richness, creativity and strength of Afghan culture and little girls likes Parvana.”
The Breadwinner is being prepped for release in 2017.
