Going to the Mattresses for His Gay Brother

Love this!

Colin Farrell has a gay brother, and the actor thinks that his brother should have the same rights as he does in Ireland.

Namely, the right to same-sex-marry.

“My brother Eamon didn’t choose to be gay, Farrell wrote in an op-ed that was published in the Sunday World yesterday. “Yes, he chose to wear eyeliner in school and that probably wasn’t the most pragmatic response to the daily torture he experienced at the hands of school bullies. But he was always proud of who he was. Proud and defiant and, of course, provocative.

That’s why this is personal to me. The fact that my brother had to leave Ireland [Eamon and his husband were married in Canada] to have his dream of being married become real is insane. INSANE.

Farrell, no doubt, penned the letter since, come May, a vote will take place during a referendum in Ireland to determine whether same-sex marriages will become a thing in the country.

Here’s to hoping!
