Machinal Woman

What interesting career moves Rebecca Hall likes to make.

From a breakthrough with Woody Allen to a Ben Affleck film to Iron Man 3 to staying close to her British-film roots to now theater, the actress likes to keep things interesting.

Which is why the girl is headed to New York to become the Young Woman of Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal on Broadway (this will be her debut there).

The play was first staged on the Great White Way in 1928 and featured the Broadway debut of one Mr. Clark Gable. It tells a story inspired by the notorious 1927 murder trial of Ruth Snyder, a woman who was executed after conspiring with her lover to kill her husband.

Machinal will begin previews right before Christmas for a Jan. 16 opening, and run for a limited engagement next winter.
