Math Man

The leading-man parts are flocking the way of Benedict Cumberbatch.

In addition to his upcoming starring role in the Julian Assange film that Bill Condon is working on for the fall, the Star Trek Into Darkness baddie has landed the role of Alan Turing in the biopic The Imitation Game.

History buffs will know that Turing was the brilliant British mathematician who cracked the German “Enigma Code,” helping prevent defeat for the Allies during World War II. He later would be prosecuted in his country for being gay (it was the ’50s).

Keira Knightley is set to share the screen with Cumberbatch, in an unspecified capacity, although word has it her character will be close to the actors until the very end.
