The New Miss Marple

This will not be your mom and dad’s Agatha Christie heroine.

Jennifer Garner has been cast as a definitely more kick-ass Miss Marple, Christie’s amateur sleuth, in an update of the character’s adventures.

In Christie’s 12 M2 mystery novels, which were first published starting in 1930, the character was this elderly spinster in a small English village who, underneath her sweet-old-lady exterior, is a flinty and formidable crime solver.

That was then, and Garner – remember TV’s Alias? – is now.
