Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan has had a rough go of it lately – just ask Chris Pine.
The character was last seen on the big screen two years ago, with the Star Trekker starring, in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and let’s just say that no one’s been clamoring for a follow-up ever since. No fault of Pine, mind you, but Jack Ryan was feeling a tad stale in the new Bourne world.
But a sequel, of sorts, we are getting, now that Carlton Cuse (A&E’s Bates Motel, TV’s Lost) has tapped a beefed-up John Krasinski to star in Jack Ryan, a new Amazon series.
Michael Bay – who required that the actor get in tiptoe shape for his 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi – is also on board, as a producer, and the project will center on Ryan as an in-his-prime contemporary CIA analyst/operative that will go on missions inspired by the Clancy novels and then some.
