Cochran Is In

Johnnie Cochran is having a moment.

Best known for defending O.J. Simpson, and best rediscovered thanks to Courtney B. Vance’s riveting portrayal of the attorney on FXThe People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Cochran did have other clients, y’ know.

And, now, one of those other (important) stories is getting told, with Anthony Mackie in the starring role.

Indeed, the Captain America: Civil War taker of sides is going to headline an untitled telling of the landmark Signal Hill police-brutality case of 1981, in which Cal State, Long Beach football player Ron Settles was found hanging in his cell soon after getting picked up for speeding, of all things, which the cops, of course, chucked to suicide, only to have an autopsy – that followed an exhumation – reveal that he had been choked to death.

So terrible.

So good the masses will learn more about this one.
