Not just because the winner of the Palm d’Or winner and the National Society of Film Critics’ pick for best picture of 2012 has been on every film pundit’s radar since last year’s Cannes Film Festival, but because director Michael Haneke chose to focus his romance on...an ailing elderly couple.
Which is so different!
The film’s story revolves around a couple played by Jean-Louis Trintignant and the buzzed-about Emmanuelle Riva. Married for a very long time, their relationship is put to the test after one of them suffers a series of strokes.
They certainly don’t make ’em like that a whole lot.
Oh, and as an added bonus, Isabelle Huppert co-stars as their daughter.
So you can see why I’m excited about this one.
