Investigating Those Shots Fired

This could be big for Sanaa Lathan (Now You See Me 2).

The actress is going to topline Shots Fired, a new straight-to-series show that will air on Fox, as an expert investigator looking for the truth in the aftermath of a racially charged shooting in a small town in Tennessee. In a twist, a black cop shoots a white teen.

Gina Prince-Bythewood (Lathan’s director on Love & Basketball) is the driving force behind this one.

Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, and Stephen Moyer are all set for key supporting roles. She will play the governor of North Carolina, Dreyfuss will portray a real estate mogul and the owner of a privatized prison, and Moyer will take on the role of a seasoned police officer caught in the middle of the investigation.

Sounds like a potboiler. I shall be watching.
