What’s the expression? You want an(other) Emmy, play an opera diva for HBO?
Only if you’re Meryl.
Not content with taking on the role of a hard-rockin’ woman for a forthcoming silver-screen Diablo Cody-written movie, Meryl Streep is going to portray Maria Callas in Master Class, a new made-for-HBO film based on the 1995 Terrence McNally play about the legendary opera singer teaching students at Juilliard in 1971.
The project would reunite the celebrated actress with Mike Nichols, who directed her to an Emmy win in 2004, for 2003’s Angels in America.
Cameras are set to roll on Master Class in January.
(If this bitch can sing opera, too....)
