By now, the sporty ones among ya should know that Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, and Cláudia Leitte are singing the offi...I mean...that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is kicking off this Thursday.
But going back to Mr. Worldwide, J. Lo, and the Brazialian axé and pop singer. Only two of them will be performing “We Are One (Ole Ola),” the relies-too-much-on-the-popular-soccer-chant official song of the tournament: Pitbull and Leitte.
Yeah, La Lopez has bailed on the opening ceremonies in São Paolo – or has had to, due to “production issues,” according to a press release her camp sent out last night.
Uh, and yet...Pitbull and Leitte are still performing? What, did Brazil revoke Lopez’s visa or som’in’?
Silly move. It’s not like anyone’s gonna ask her about her freshest of exes, Casper Smart. Plus, it’s the friggin’ World Cup, a.k.a. a great, big, millions-watching-from-around-the-globe venue in which to promote A.K.A., her upcoming 10th album that is dropping next week.
So silly. And odd.
To quote Tim Gunn, she shoulda made it work.

Update: Well, that thing that was not gonna happen is totally gonna happen.
Heard on the radio the morning of June 11 that the powers that be at the FIFA were trying to convince Jennifer Lopez to head out to São Paolo and perform “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Pitbull and Cláudia Leitter, after all.
And it seems they were successful.
“I’m coming,” La Lopez the Associated Press one day before the opening ceremonies in Brazil. “I leave tonight. We always were going.
“People get anxious [about the scheduling]. People get nervous and I think it was a little premature to announce anything. But we are definitely going.”
And there you have it. Crisis averted.
