A Good Thing I Can Picture Him in Uniform

Warm Bodies and Jack the Giant Slayer star – I see a grindhouse situation in my near future! – Nicholas Hoult is going to World War I.

The It Guy will lead the adaptation of Sebastian Faulks’ 1993 novel Birdsong, the story of a man who fought during the first Great War, falling in love with an older woman at the same time.

The film’s narrative will be interspersed with a secondary storyline, that of the man’s granddaughter, who is trying to find the 411 on her grandfather’s wartime experiences many years later in the 1970s.

Now, about that comment I made about Hoult being an It Guy. He is. He must be.

Hoult is intensely watchable, although you wouldn’t know it from his aforementioned movies’ lukewarm box office. But he is.

And the powers that be on Birdsong think so, too. They’ve called the young actor the “holy grail” in their search for a leading man.

Praise doesn’t get better than that, does it?
