There’s a New Forger in Town

Speaking of St. Vincent (sorta)....

Melissa McCarthy reportedly is taking another semi-serious turn, to play Lee Israel, a writer-turned-forger and thief.

Israel was once a successful biographer, but when writing about the Katharine Hepburns and Estée Lauders of the world just couldn’t cut it anymore, the woman turned to forgery. Yes, she began making up and selling letters she purported were by penned by celebs.

Ha! They do say write what you know, after all.

Marielle Heller (The Diary of a Teenage Girl) is set to direct Can You Ever Forgive Me? from a script written by Enough Saids Nicole Holofcener.

And here’s the kicker: Chris O’Dowd, McCarthys co-star in St. Vincentwas attached to the project last year, when Julianne Moore was all ready to star and s---.

Which begs the question: What did Israel look like that two very beautiful, yet physically different actresses could take her on?
