The wait is almost over: This summer, Meryl Streep will rock.
The actress is starring in a new Diablo Cody-written, Jonathan Demme-directed film titled Ricki and the Flash, about a woman who abandoned her family when her children were young in order to pursue her bliss and her dreams of becoming a rock star.
Now, middle-aged and in a bit of a non-starter career path as like, a cover-band frontwoman, Ricki returns home after her daughter (played by the legendary actress’ own, Mamie Gummer) gets left by her significant other.
Kevin Kline, Audra McDonald, Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and Rick Springfield co-star, as Ricki’s ex, his new wife, her son, and her bandmate/love interest, respectively.
Ricki and the Flash will be in theaters on Aug. 7.
