We Have Us a New Chief of Fashion Police

Kathy Griffin will report for duty, after all.

Even since Joan Rivers’ untimely passing last September, the red-headed funny lady had been widely rumored to be have been in the running to take over for her mentor on E!’s Fashion Police.

Today, the rumor became an official announcement that, yes, Griffin will succeed Rivers on the show, which will return in the new year. On Jan. 12, with coverage of the 2015 Golden Globes, in fact.

While Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne will remain on the panel, Brad Goreski will replace George Kotsiopoulos.

The new, Griffin-led Fashion Police (Melissa Rivers will stay on as an executive producer) will air 17 episodes throughout the year, mostly focusing on the big awards shows and red carpets and big-ticket fashion events. And lest you think so, there is no one more aware of the tall order before her than Griffin herself.

“I get it! These are some big shoes I’m going to fill. Joan was truly one of a kind,” she said. “[But] I’m Kathy F---ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yoursel[ves] in, as I am talking no prisoners. I am not holding back so, DAMMIT, let’s have some fun!

Yes, let’s. Joan wouldn’t want it any other way.
