How We Operate

Next summer, Disney and Pixar are going to have us seeing and hearing emotions.

Wait – what? How?

My, through Inside Out, the latest Pixar joint (directed by Up’s Pete Docter), which will show us the inner workings of the mind of Riley, an 11-year-old girl whose father’s new job has led her family to leave their small Midwest life for the hustle and bustle of San Francisco (let’s just say that Riley is not happy to be at a new school surrounded by a bunch of new people she doesn’t know).

Lucky for us, though, the film will give us an inside look at how all of her emotions – Anger, Disgust, Joy, Fear, and Sadness – work (in a high-tech mission control center located in Riley’s mind, no less). Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and Phyllis Smith are voice-playing the five emotions at hand.

Inside Out will be out on June 19. Check out its teaser now.
