Ah, but that’s kinda exactly how we’ll see the oh-so-versatile Oscar-nominated actor when Transcendence, Christopher Nolan-longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister’s directorial debut, opens in April.

Depp will be playing a researcher studying something called the Technological Singularity who gets his brain uploaded into a computer.

Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Kate Mara (Netlix’s House of Cards), and Paul Bettany co-star in Transcendence, which is set to arrive in theaters on April 18.
