Elton John is in the news again...thanks to Madonna.How unusual.
Remember the time when he was better known for making great music or, heck, for his philanthropy. Those were the good ol’ days. Now it’s like dude can’t get himself written about unless he’s riding on somebody else’s coattails – chiefly the Queen’s (or Lady GaGa’s).
For someone who couldn’t care less about M, John just could not help but talk about her during an interview with Australia’s Channel 7 earlier this week.
“She’s such a nightmare,” John said. “Her career is over, I can tell you that. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c---.”
Classy...sir. And, really? She’s only touring the world again, selling out arenas and stadiums and on her way to having one of the most successful tours of all time. When was the last time John was able to say that?
“And she looks like a f---ing fairground stripper.”
Oh – he went there.
Now, I’m no doctor, but I think the singer suffers from denial: He loves Madonna, but he feels a compulsive urge to bring her down because he not-s0-secretly wishes he were her (or that, say, she had said yes to being his kid’s godmother or som’in’...since he had to settle for Lady GaGa, whom he brought into the mix, too – “[M]’s been so horrible to [her].”
Oh, and he sounds a little sexist and ageist. Not to mention desperate.
Give it up, already, dude.
