G.P. Will SU2C
Gwyneth Paltrow is taking on cancer.
No, seriously, all kidding aside, the actress is stepping up to serve as executive producer of the upcoming Stand Up to Cancer telethon, which will air on network and cable on Sept 7.
G.P.’s taking over to fill the void left by the late movie producer Laura Ziskin, who lost her longtime battle with breast cancer last year (Ziskin oversaw the inaugural 2008 telethon and its second outing in 2010).
“This broadcast has become a global call-to-action for all those touched by cancer,” said Paltrow, who lost her father, producer Bruce Paltrow, to the disease in 2002. “I’m honored to stand up in my father’s memory.”
The fundraiser reportedly has raised more than $180 million in pledges for cancer research.
I’ll be watching, Gwyn. And y’all remember to “Just Stand Up.”
