For weeks the rumors about who would play Johanna Mason in Catching Fire have revolved around Jena Malone.

Well, we’re trading in actuality now.

The actress, whom the lot of you will remember from Contact or for having played the snot who antagonized Julia Roberts something fierce in Stepmom, has landed the coveted part of the former Hunger Games winner summoned back for the Quarter Quell, the 75th annual games. Hailing from District 7, she is said to have mad skills with an ax...and a “wicked ability to murder.”

I can see how the powers that be may have recognized a certain intensity in the actress....

Malone joins the Jennifer Lawrence-led ensemble of Catching Fire, which is also welcoming newcomers Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amanda Plummer into the fold.
