From Lafayette to MLK

The cast of The Butler just got a shot of True Blood.

Nelsan Ellis, a.k.a. scene-stealing Lafayette on the HBO summer hit, has been tapped to play Martin Luther King Jr. in director Lee Daniels’ follow-up to Precious.

The actor joins a star-studded cast that includes Forest Whitaker in the titular role (a man who worked at the White House over the course of eight administrations), as well as Robin Williams, Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, James Marsden, Alex Pettyfer, Minka Kelly, and Vanessa Redgrave, among others.
