Idol Is Done

It is the end of an era: American Idol has been cancelled.

A television staple for a decade and a half, the show will return for a final 15th season next winter that, of course, will pull no punches.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm around former judges and contestants coming back,” Dana Walden, one of Fox’s co-chairmen, shared with press this morning during the network’s upfront presentation in advance of the fall season and beyond. “Next year, it’s going to be a true season-long celebration,” added Walden’s counterpart, Gary Newman.

Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. are expected to be back as judges, with Ryan Seacrest staying on as host, natch.
