And here you thought awards season was winding down.
One of the last groups to hand out hardware before the Academy does its thing next month was the Writers Guild of America, and lemme tell ya, the scribes were quite into Captain Phillips and Her.
Much like their peers the Producers, who nominated both films for best of the best (but famously split their vote between 12 Years a Slave and Gravity).
The writers liked Captain Phillips and Her to such a point that the guild awarded them Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay honors, respectively, at last night’s Writers Guild Awards.
And there you have it, folks.
Btw, Frozen won big at the Annie Awards, while Emmanuel Lubezki took home top honors at the American Society of Cinematographers Awards for his work on Alfonso Cuarón’s space odyssey.
