Religion Wife

Amy Adams sure knows how to mix it up.

Here’s a gal who goes from family-friendly fare (Enchanted) to Oscar bait (Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter) to blockbusters (the upcoming Superman movie), and walks away from each project even more universally adored than ever.

More of the same is a-comin’: The actress has The Muppets due out at Thanksgiving, and she has just signed on to co-star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s follow-up to There Will Be Blood, a religious drama that’s loosely based on the founding of Scientology.

Adams will play the wife of Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s character, a Navy vet who starts a religion in the 1950s just like L. Ron Hubbard. Joaquin Phoenix is also on board as Hoffman’s main disciple.
