The Wrong Kinda Out

It was too good to last: Having an out young adult on the tube, on a hit show, doing his thing and doing it proudly.

90210’s Teddy, played by Trevor Donovan, will be leaving the famous zip code in the fall.

Boo!

Although Donovan will reprise his role when the show returns for its fourth season, he will do so as a guest, for about five episodes, to wrap up things before he heads for greener pastures.

The actor has been kind of philosophical about his exit from the CW show, saying, “I look back on getting this real-life story line as a blessing. To be able to simultaneously take on a challenging role and bring awareness to a relevant social issue was a win-win for me. I’m looking forward to what opportunities and adventures lie ahead.

So was I. For Teddy.

Donovan nailed it in the head when he said the arc was challenging and relevant because it made the show, with its heightened fantasy element, just that. I’m sorry the powers that be decided Teddy was done because he clearly was just getting started.
