Scrubbing Out...Maybe

It’s the day fans of TV’s Grey’s Anatomy are dreading: the day Mer and Der will no longer be the couple to root for of be frustrated by every Thursday night.

Patrick Dempsey reignited the flames the flames of despair recently when he reportedly told the Italian version of Vanity Fair that the show’s upcoming eighth season “[i]s gonna be my last.” The actor also said the notion of leaving the show is “bittersweet,” but that he is pretty much ready to move on after playing the same part for seven years.

The future of the original cast is certainly looking cloudy since they all, I think, have contracts expiring at the end of next season. Even star Ellen Pompeo isn’t sure she’ll be returning.

A rep for Dempsey was quick to clarify things, saying that his comment was misinterpreted and more about the finality of his contract than the finality of his commitment to the reinvigorated tube hit.

I guess time will tell on this one....
