It’s not often that I read books that have been adapted into films before they open in theaters, but I feel inspired to do so now that I’ve joined a book club.
My first choice is Cormac McCarthy’s 2006 post-apocalyptic novel The Road, which is getting the silver-screen treatment on Nov. 14.
In the film, co-starring Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce, Viggo Mortensen plays a dying man who, armed with a pistol, tries to lead his young son to safety.
I hope I’ll love this “New Classic” as much as others have.
