Just a month after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Christina Applegate has said she’s perfectly healthy and cancer-free.
“I’m clear,” the erstwhile Kelly Bundy told Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts in an exclusive interview that will air tomorrow. “Absolutely 100 percent clear and clean. They got everything out so I’m definitely not going to die from breast cancer.”
Good for her!
Applegate started getting mammograms six years ago after she turned 30. The cancer was found through the second of two MRI tests as a follow-up from a biopsy she had in 2007.
During the interview Applegate laughed about her reaction to the initial diagnosis, but perhaps only to offset the fear she felt then.
“I was so mad and I – I just remember I was…I was just shaking,” she said.
Expect to see see the Emmy-nominated star of ABC’s Samantha Who? in next month’s Stand Up to Cancer television event. The special will air on Sept. 5 on ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, at 8 p.m.

Update: The actress revealed during the interview that she underwent a double mastectomy – even though cancer was only detected in one of her breasts.
Applegate described her decision, which some people may see as a radical one, as “the most logical” one for her (she has the breast cancer gene, BRCA1, and her mother battled the disease and suffered from a recurrence years later).
