Let There Be Smoke

“Your smell…your style…your body on my bed… /

Your neck…your gait…your fun and charming friends… /

These are the thing that I miss… /

I never dreamed I would have to lay down my torch for you like this.”

So sings Alanis Morissette in “Torch” off her new, Guy Sigsworth-produced Flavors of Entanglement.

Sometimes, you can be true to yourself and to all those around you, and that’s why people hold a torch for you, and you do, too, for them.

But more often than not, you just end up being a torch holder, and you just have to lay it down.

Morissette broke my heart a little with this song.

She needs to release it as a single, and get herself a Grammy Award for it.
