The Top Screenplays of 2014 Are...

Well, look at that – just when you thought that the race to the Feb. 22 Oscars was a Birdman vs. Boyhood thing, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game got a bit of a last-minute boost this weekend.

Both films – catnip of the ongoing awards season – emerged victorious at the Writers Guild of America Awards, taking the Original Screenplay and Adapted Screenplay honors, respectively.

FX’s Louie and HBO’s True Detective won Best Comedy and Best Drama kudos on the TV front, btw.

And that, kids, the WGAs, were the last major awards to be handed out before the Academy Awards next Sunday. FYI: Voting for this year’s Oscars closes on Tuesday.

Who will it be, who will it be....
