It was about seven years ago that TV star Eliza Dushku first tried to tell the story of the photographer, but nothing came of it.
Until now.
Cult star Matt Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Terminator Genisys), a former Doctor Who, has been cast as the guy (the epitome of American avant garde) in a new biopic simply titled Mapplethorpe. Dushku is still involved as a producer, with Ondi Timoner (DiG!) set to direct.
Zosia Mamet (HBO’s Girls) is also on board, and will portray Patti Smith, Mapplethorpe’s ex-turned-BFF.
