Get ready, people, because the Meryl Streep of the Great White Way is getting ready.
To star, that is, in Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, a new production chronicling the backstage happenings of the 1921 musical Shuffle Along.
McDonald will play 1920s star Lottie Gee, one of the original leads in Shuffle Along, which is widely considered a breakthrough show for black performers and writers on Broadway.
huffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed is scheduled to begin previews next spring for an April 21, 2016 opening.
